1. Begin by laying out an egg roll wrapper on a clean, flat surface, positioning it so that a corner is facing towards you (diamond shape).
2. Place 1 tablespoon of Nutella in the center of the wrapper, and top with a few slices of banana.
3. Carefully fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and finally roll it up tightly to ensure the fillings are snugly encased.
4. Use a small dab of water to secure the top corner of the wrapper to the roll to keep it from unraveling during frying.
5. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a large frying pan to 375°F (190°C). Once hot, fry the egg rolls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes each side.
6. Remove the egg rolls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain off the excess oil.
7. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar if desired.
Variations & Tips
For those who want to mix things up, try substituting Nutella with peanut butter or almond butter for a different flavor profile. You can also add some mini marshmallows inside the rolls for a ‘smores’ inspired treat.
