Homemade Turtle Candy with Pecans and Caramel Recipe

Step 1: Prepare the Pecan Clusters

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Arrange pecan halves in clusters of four, resembling a turtle’s head and legs.

Step 2: Melt the Caramels

  1. Unwrap caramels and place in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of water.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  4. Let cool slightly, but keep it liquid.

Step 3: Assemble the Turtle Candies

  1. Spoon caramel over each pecan cluster, covering the nuts.
  2. Let set for 10 minutes or until firm.

Step 4: Melt the Chocolate

  1. Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

Step 5: Coat the Turtle Candies with Chocolate

  1. Spoon melted chocolate over each caramel-covered cluster.
  2. Spread evenly and optionally, swirl with a fork or toothpick.

Step 6: Set and Serve

  1. Let cool at room temperature or refrigerate for faster setting.
  2. Peel off the baking sheet.
  3. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container
