Instructions
- Coat a large slow cooker insert with cooking spray (preferably a 7-quart model).
- Remove the ham from its packaging and place it at the bottom of the prepared slow cooker.
- Combine the melted butter and honey, then drizzle the mixture over and inside the ham slices.
- Cover with the lid and cook on low heat for 3 to 4 hours.
- In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, onion powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
- Mix well.
- After the ham has cooked, sprinkle half of this spice mixture over the ham.
- You can then cover the ham and allow the sugar mixture to caramelize in the slow cooker for an additional 30 to 45 minutes.
- Alternatively, you can carefully remove the slow cooker insert using oven mitts and place it under the broiler for 1 to 2 minutes to caramelize the sugar mixture quickly (make sure to only place the insert, not the entire slow cooker, under the broiler).
- I recommend broiling for 2 minutes for perfect caramelization.
- Once caramelized, carefully remove the insert from the oven and place it back in the slow cooker.
- Turn off the heat and cover with the lid.
- Meanwhile, add the remaining sugar mixture to a small saucepan along with 3 tablespoons of water.
- Stir and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and pour the glaze all over the ham.
- Slice the ham, serve warm, and enjoy!
