A Picture-Perfect Illusion
Adrian waved goodbye to his wife, Claire, as she packed her suitcase for yet another business trip. She was the owner of a flourishing fashion empire, often traveling overseas.
“I’ll miss you, Sweet Pea,” Adrian said, feigning sadness.
“I won’t be gone long,” Claire promised with a warm smile, planting a kiss on his cheek. As she left, Adrian watched her go, his mask slipping.
“Finally,” he muttered, reaching for his phone.
That evening, Vanessa, his mistress, arrived with roses and mischief in her eyes. Their affair was a dangerous game of stolen moments, but Adrian was confident he could keep his secret life hidden.
The two laughed and kissed, unaware that Claire’s flight had been canceled.
The Unexpected Return
Claire’s arrival at the door froze Adrian mid-step. “Honey, you’re back?” he stammered.
“My flight got canceled,” Claire explained, stepping inside. “The next one’s in three days. Why didn’t you answer my calls?”
“I, uh… left my phone charging.” Adrian scrambled to hide evidence of Vanessa’s presence. Claire noticed his unease.
“You’re acting strange,” she said, narrowing her eyes.
Adrian steered her toward the kitchen. “You must be starving. Let’s order dinner.”
In the background, Vanessa hid under the bed, clutching her breath.

Adrian ordered pizza, thinking the situation was under control. But Claire was no fool. She caught a whiff of perfume—one she didn’t wear—and noticed misplaced items in their bedroom. Her suspicions deepened when the pizza arrived: a double Tabasco special, a flavor Adrian had never liked before.
“You ordered this?” Claire asked, her tone sharp.
Adrian forced a smile. “Thought we’d try something new.”
