Ingredients:
1 package (3 oz) flavored gelatin (Jell-O) — commonly used flavors include strawberry, raspberry, or orange
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water
1 can (15 oz) fruit cocktail, drained (or mixed fruit of choice — such as peaches, pears, pineapple, cherries)
1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped (or other fresh fruit like kiwi, grapes, or berries)
1 cup whipped topping (Cool Whip or homemade whipped cream)
1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional, for extra nostalgia)
1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional, for added texture)
Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Gelatin:
In a mixing bowl, dissolve the flavored gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved.
Add 1 cup of cold water to the gelatin mixture. Stir to combine. Let it cool for about 10-15 minutes at room temperature, but don’t let it set yet.
2. Add the Fruit:
Once the gelatin mixture has cooled, add the drained fruit cocktail (or your choice of canned fruit) and fresh fruit (such as chopped strawberries, grapes, or whatever you like). If you’re using mini marshmallows or shredded coconut, add them at this stage.
